Shilajit resin is simple to take once you know the routine. This guide covers serving size, timing, what to mix it with and the most common mistakes people make in their first week.
How much shilajit should you take?
The suggested serving for Shilajit Remedy is approximately 200 mg once daily — about the size of a pea or a grain of rice, depending on how firm the resin is. A 30g jar contains roughly 150 servings.
New to shilajit? Many people start with half a serving for the first week, then move to the full serving. Don't exceed the suggested amount unless a healthcare professional advises it.
Step-by-step
- Use the included spoon (or a clean, dry spoon) to take a pea-sized portion.
- Add it to a cup of warm water, herbal tea or milk. Avoid boiling liquids.
- Stir for 30–60 seconds until fully dissolved. The liquid turns golden-brown to dark amber.
- Drink immediately.
Prefer not to use a drink? Some people let the resin dissolve under the tongue. The taste is earthy, smoky and bitter — most people find a warm drink more pleasant.
When is the best time to take it?
There is no single “correct” time. Many customers prefer the morning, with or before breakfast, as part of a calm start to the day. Others take it in the early afternoon. Consistency matters more than the exact time.
What to mix it with
- Warm water — the simplest option.
- Warm milk or plant milk — the classic Ayurvedic approach, which also softens the taste.
- Herbal tea — ginger, tulsi or rooibos pair well with shilajit's earthy flavour.
- Coffee — possible, but let it cool slightly first.
Common first-week mistakes
- Taking too much. More isn't better. Stick to the suggested serving.
- Using boiling water. Very hot liquid isn't necessary and makes the drink unpleasant.
- Using a wet spoon. Moisture in the jar changes the resin's texture.
- Skipping the label. Read the warnings — shilajit isn't suitable for everyone.
Why is my resin hard (or runny)?
Genuine shilajit resin reacts to temperature. It becomes firm and even brittle in the cold and soft and sticky in the heat. If it's too hard to scoop, hold the closed jar in your hands for a minute or place it in a bowl of warm water. If it's too soft, pop it in the fridge for a few minutes.
