Nepal Himalayan Shilajit: How It Is Sourced, Purified and Tested

Where shilajit comes from matters. Shilajit Remedy is sourced in the Nepal Himalayas and manufactured in Nepal by Black Rock Pvt. Ltd., Surkhet, exclusively for Shilajit Remedy LLC in the USA. Here's why origin is one of the first things to check.

Why the Himalayas?

Shilajit forms in high, cold mountain ranges where centuries of plant material are slowly compressed between layers of rock. The Himalayas — the world's highest mountain range — have long been regarded as the classic source in Ayurvedic tradition. Nepal sits at the heart of this range, with some of the most dramatic altitude changes on Earth.

How shilajit is harvested

In the warm months, sun-heated rock faces release dark resin from cracks and crevices. Experienced local harvesters collect the raw material by hand, often in remote, high-altitude terrain. Harvesting knowledge is frequently passed down through families. Responsible collection means gathering what the rock naturally releases rather than damaging the formations.

From raw rock resin to purified shilajit

Raw shilajit is mixed with stone, sand and plant debris. To make it suitable for daily use it is purified — traditionally by dissolving it in water, filtering out the solids, and gently concentrating the liquid back into a thick, glossy resin. Careful, low-heat processing helps preserve its natural character.

Manufactured in Nepal, tested before it reaches the USA

  • Sourced: Nepal Himalayan region.
  • Manufactured: Black Rock Pvt. Ltd., Surkhet, Nepal — in a GMP-compliant facility.
  • Tested: third-party, ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory screening for heavy metals and microbial contamination.
  • Sold & supported: Shilajit Remedy LLC, Hyattsville, Maryland, USA.

A note on natural variation

Because shilajit is a natural material, its color, texture and mineral content can vary slightly from batch to batch. That's normal — and it's exactly why each batch is tested and matched to its own certificate of analysis.

How to check any brand's origin claims

  • Is the country and region named — not just “the mountains”?
  • Is the manufacturer identified?
  • Is there a lab report you can match to your batch?
